Depressed acne scars have been very difficult to improve in the past, and treatment options were very expensive and carried the risk of permanent skin colour change and long recovery times.

Skin Needling has been shown to improve the appearance of depressed Acne Scarring, to help fill old surgical scars and deep lines and to improve chicken pox scars. Skin Needling is also known as Facial Mesotherapy or Collagen Induction Therapy.

Skin Needling is usually performed by a doctor or nurse using needles that can penetrate into the dermal layer of the skin.  Clearskincare has a range of Skin Rollers that can be used at home.

The Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller is constructed using 48 of the finest quality stainless steel needles (length 0.3mm, gauge 0.25mm) mounted in the highest quality plastic autoclavable (resistant to 134ºC temperatures) rollers and handle. The Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller was designed to be reused, other rollers on the market are disposable (read the fine print). Used daily and cared for as directed your Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller will last for 12 months.

The Clearskincare Skin Roller range was designed to maximise results for improving the appearance of indented scars, lines, wrinkles and stretchmarks as well as thinning hair whilst minimising downtime and pain, hence the selected needle lengths of the homecare rollers of 0.75mm (Skin & Scalp Roller) and 0.3mm (Face Roller).

The needles gently massage and stimulate the skin's dermal layer. The dermal layer of the skin contains fibroblasts, which when stimulated produce new collagen by utilising the skin's inbuilt wound healing mechanism.

The Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller creates micro punctures stimulating the human bodies natural wound healing response. One of the benefits of this response is collagen induction, where the production of collagen and elastin is stimulated and your acne scars/pock marks are infilled naturally.

• no pain, the Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller is painless, a moderate to strong prickling sensation is experienced when using and for approximately 5-10 minutes after use.  The duration of this prickling sensation decreases as you establish your skin needling routine;

On clean dry skin apply the Skin & Scalp roller gently over the area to be treated, using a star shaped pattern roll each area back and forth 10-12 times.  Lift the roller between rolls often, the aim of the procedure is to create the maximum number of micropunctures per area of skin being rolled. Divide your face into 6 areas - left & right forehead, left & right cheek/temple, left & right lower cheek/mouth/chin areas.  Roll each area.  Apply skincare products after rolling.

It should take you approximately 3-5 minutes to roll your whole face.  Only ever use as much pressure as you feel comfortable with.  You don’t have to be too fastidious, remember what you may miss tonight you will get tomorrow night.

Results vary from person to person and the duration of your skin needling programme is dependent on the severity, depth and extent of the scarring and the speed of the users personal wound healing response. Every person who has undertaken skin needling has improved the appearance of their scars.

Your skin is naturally renewed every 40 days (1 cycle). Results will be noticeable from the The Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller after 2 cycles (80 days). Significant results will be evident after 4-6 cycles. Rolling can be ceased when you feel that your scars have sufficiently filled in. Another benefit of skin needling is that your scars will continue to infill naturally for up to 12 months after you cease needling.
